Why I Started FlipForager

Why I Started FlipForager

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re either interested in power tools, making a bit of extra money, or you’re simply curious about what FlipForager is all about.

The truth is, FlipForager started because I was looking for a side business that actually suited me.

Like many people, I’ve spent years looking at different ways to create an extra income stream. I’ve explored Amazon FBA, looked into affiliate marketing, and spent more hours than I’d like to admit watching videos about side hustles that promised financial freedom.

The problem was that most of them never really clicked.

Some required endless content creation. Others required large amounts of upfront investment. A few simply felt disconnected from the things I genuinely enjoy doing.

My day job is as a controls engineer. I spend my working life troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and figuring out why things don’t work the way they should.

I’ve always enjoyed understanding how things work and fixing them when they don’t.

So when I started noticing how many power tools were being sold online as faulty, damaged, untested, or simply unwanted, it sparked my interest.

I began wondering whether there was an opportunity hiding in plain sight.

A seller might see a broken impact driver.

I might see a £10 replacement part.

A seller might see an untested drill with no battery.

I might see a listing that’s been heavily discounted because nobody can verify whether it works.

That’s where the idea behind FlipForager was born.

The name comes from the idea of foraging. Searching, hunting, and uncovering value where others have overlooked it. Whether that’s finding an undervalued tool, a simple repair, or a lesson learned from a failed flip, the process is all about discovering opportunities.

This website is my way of documenting that journey.

You’ll find every purchase, every repair, every success, every mistake, and every lesson I learn along the way. I’m not claiming to be an expert, and I’m certainly not promising overnight riches.

What I can promise is honesty.

If I make money on a flip, I’ll share it.

If I lose money on a flip, I’ll share that too.

My hope is that over time this becomes a useful resource for anyone interested in buying, repairing, and reselling tools, while also serving as a record of my own progress.

Right now, FlipForager is still in its early days.

A few purchases have been made.

A few lessons have already been learned.

The journey is only just beginning.

Thanks for following along.
